Camella Boateng is a Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) professional, qualified in the development, implementation, and evaluation of compliance programs for the health care industry and has served as an Interim Compliance Officer. Her duties as a consultant includes providing health care compliance advisory and training services. Ms. Boateng assists clients in evidencing an effective compliance program, particularly as it relates to government audits. She develops, designs, implements, manages and evaluates compliance programs. Further, she provides compliance education and training programs including but not limited to General Compliance/Code of Conduct Training, HIPAA Privacy and Security Training, Physician Compliance Training, and Specialized Compliance Training. She administers compliance training presentations to various health care organizations and their personnel at all levels.
Ms. Boateng clients include health care providers such as hospitals, nursing facilities, managed care organizations, and pharmaceutical manufacturers on establishing effective compliance programs and conducting risk assessments. As a regulatory analyst, she keeps clients current on the ever changing regulatory and enforcement environment.
She is a team leader in auditing and monitoring compliance programs that includes assessing an organization’s internal controls and processes for complying with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Her special focus is specialized in risk management, including enterprise risk management and assists organizations in managing risks by developing risk remediation plans, policies and procedures, and advising on best practices. Ms. Boateng also specializes in regulatory compliance with emphasis on HIPAA privacy and security and Medicare program requirements including Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans.
In her current role, she leads research initiatives in a variety of areas, including federal healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid), healthcare laws and regulations (e.g., Anti-kickback Statute, Stark Law, Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, Medicaid Best Price Law, and State Reporting Requirements of Physician Payments, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and HITECH Act), and Federal and industry guidelines such as the Office of Inspector General Compliance Program Guidance and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals.
Ms. Boateng has served as lead analyst in Fair Market Value analysis and determinations as part of assessments of physician arrangements. Her expertise has been employed on numerous occasions as part of a team engaged to be an Independent Review Organization (IRO) in connection with Corporate Integrity Agreements with the OIG.
She has written and published articles in industry journals and newsletters including the Journal of Health Care Compliance and Atlantic Information Services’ High-Risk Areas in Medicare Billing Current Development Newsletter.
Previous Work Experience
Prior to joining Strategic Management, Ms. Boateng worked as a research analyst for Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals. As an analyst, she assisted and provided research support for risk management plans, epidemiological studies, and FDA regulatory compliance.
