Professional Experience

Eric Chung joined Strategic Management in 2016 and supports Senior Consultants through research and analysis related to a number of compliance, regulatory, and legal issues.  Topics include services related to Office of Inspector General (OIG) guidance, Medicare, Medicaid, Federal Anti-Kickback Statute, and Stark Law.  Mr. Chung has helped organizations in fulfilling their obligations under Corporate Integrity Agreements with the OIG as well as on-site support to Compliance Departments.  This includes transaction reviews concerning physician arrangements with the organization.  He has also assisted organizations with compliance training presentations, developing compliance protocols for 3rd party billing companies, and creating high risk area reports for various health care providers, including home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities, and durable medical equipment suppliers.  He also drafts monthly regulatory reports informing Strategic Management’s clients of Medicare/Medicaid payment updates and pertinent rules in the healthcare industry to ensure their compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

Previous Work Experience

Prior to joining Strategic Management, Mr. Chung worked for the Oversight Group of the United States Senate Committee on Finance, the committee with the largest jurisdiction in either house of Congress and oversees more than 50% of the federal budget.  His work consisted of developing and evaluating healthcare legislation by conducting legal and policy research and working with congressional staff.  Additionally, Mr. Chung has worked in the Corporate Compliance Department at Rush University Medical Center, where he conducted research for an academic medical center and developed policies and procedures addressing concerns such as the Anti-Kickback Statue, Stark Law, and False Claims Act.  Mr. Chung has also worked for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Division of Survey & Certification and as a law clerk for a personal injury law firm in downtown Chicago.
