Professional Experience

Rachael Price, Registered Nurse, is a seasoned certified outpatient and inpatient coder and a certified documentation improvement professional with many years of experience in the health care field.  Ms. Price has experience with CPT/ICD9/ICD10/PCS guidelines, compliance audits and medical documentation risk reviews, focusing on Medicare and Medicaid accurate coding and billing for physician practices, hospitals, and post-acute facilities.  She has conducted clinical documentation improvement projects and reviews.  She has also done compliance audits for DC public schools, auditing for special services, including physical, occupational, and speech/language therapies and behavioral support services.  Ms. Price has audited Medicaid records for DC’s Child and Family Service Agency and has written quality assurance reports.   She has provided education and training in clinical documentation improvement.  She is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), and was the treasurer for AAPC Alexandria, VA Chapter, 2014 & 2015. Ms. Price holds a Bachelor of Science, Nursing, Stevenson University.

Previous Work Experience

Prior to joining Strategic Management Systems, Ms. Price was an inpatient coder/auditor for military hospital facilities, where she reviewed, coded and audited medical records. In addition, Ms. Price provided training and education on correct coding guidelines, disease management, anatomy and physiology.   Ms. Price has experience in clinical research, auditing medical reviews for accurate coding, and due diligence for physician practices, hospitals and post-acute facilities.  She has also worked for over 10 years as a nurse in a large physician practice in general medicine and otolaryngic allergy.
