On April 17, 2013, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) released an Updated OIG’s Provider Self-Disclosure Protocol (SDP), because OIG had identified additional areas where additional guidance would be beneficial to the health care community and would improve the efficient resolution of SDP matters. This updated and revised version supersedes and replaces the OIG’s original 1998 SDP, as well as three Open Letters to Health Care Providers released in 2006, 2008, and 2009.
